Our commitment

# Accessible care .

How we work to make our service accessible: physically, digitally, and in how we communicate. Plus how to request specific accommodations.

Last updated: 2026-05

## Our commitment

We aim to make GHC's service usable by every patient who needs it, regardless of disability, neurodivergence, language fluency, or technology access. We are not perfect, but we listen, adapt, and want to know when something isn't working.

## Communication accommodations

We offer the following on request:

- **Email-only correspondence** if phone or video calls are difficult, useful for autism, anxiety, hearing differences, or speech differences
- **Phone aid** for online forms, with optional support from a nominated representative (Consent to Disclose required)
- **Repeat explanations** at the speed and detail you need. Clinicians are happy to slow down, repeat, or write things down
- **Extended appointments** if you need longer to process information or make decisions
- **Written summaries** after appointments, so you have a permanent record of what was discussed and decided
- **Postal letters** if internet access is limited (sealed-summary postage charged at cost)

## Physical access

All three of our clinic locations are step-free or wheelchair accessible. Specific access details for each:

- **Fitzrovia Hospital (London, W1T 6AH)**: main hospital reception, level access, accessible WC available
- **Shire Hall Business Centre (Stafford, ST16 2LD)**: accessible building with reception sign-in
- **Exeter** (Holmedale Health, 34 Denmark Rd, EX1 1SE): accessible building with reception sign-in

If you have specific access needs (parking, hoist transfer, sensory adjustments), tell us before your appointment so we can prepare. Email [info@thegenderhormoneclinic.com](mailto:info@thegenderhormoneclinic.com) or call [07427 926686](tel:+447427926686).

## Digital accessibility

We aim for our website to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Where it falls short, we want to know. Please email us with the page URL and a description of the issue.

Specific things we've tried to get right:

- Sufficient colour contrast in body text and links
- Logical heading hierarchy and meaningful link text for screen readers
- Alt text on meaningful images
- Keyboard-navigable interactive elements
- Forms that work with assistive technology

We don't currently provide language-translation tools or audio versions of pages. For language support, please arrange your own interpreter. We don't offer in-house interpretation, but we can adjust appointment timing and pace to accommodate a translator.

## Requesting accommodations

The earlier we know what you need, the better we can prepare. Tell us:

- When you make your initial enquiry, if you have specific needs we should plan for
- By email or phone before any appointment
- By submitting a Consent to Disclose form if you want a partner, carer, or representative to be able to speak with us on your behalf

## Feedback

If you have suggestions for how we can do better (physically, digitally, or in our processes), please get in touch. Accessibility feedback feeds into our team meetings and shapes future decisions.
