Really friendly and helpful staff, they were happy to help and answered all questions. I was a little nervous before my appointment but they gave a relaxing and stress free environment.

What changes can I expect from Transmale Hormone Therapy?

Testosterone therapy promotes masculinising changes such as a deeper voice, increased body and facial hair, changes in fat distribution, and increased muscle mass. Individual results vary and occur over several months to years.

What changes can I expect from Transfemale Hormone Therapy?

Feminising hormone therapy typically leads to breast development, softer skin, decreased muscle mass, and changes in body fat distribution. Body hair may also become thinner and grow more slowly.

How much does it cost?

Costs vary depending on the specific treatment plan and required monitoring. We provide a full breakdown of costs during your initial consultation so you can make an informed decision.

Can I start hormones as a non-binary individual?

Yes, we provide tailored hormone therapy plans for non-binary individuals designed to help you achieve your specific transition goals.

Do I need a formal diagnosis before starting?

Yes. A written diagnosis of gender dysphoria or gender incongruence from an HCPC-registered psychologist or GMC-registered psychiatrist is required by UK law before we can prescribe. A diagnosis from a GP is not accepted. If you don't have one yet, our enquiry form has an option to request our recommended specialist gender psychologists.

How long does it take from enquiry to starting hormones?

Around 3 months from your first video consultation, provided your blood tests and GP medical summary arrive without delay. The pathway is: video consultation (typically 4-8 weeks after acceptance) → 4-6 weeks gathering bloods and paperwork → in-clinic face-to-face consultation, where your first prescription is issued the same day if everything is clear.

Where are your clinics?

We see patients at the Fitzrovia Hospital in central London (W1T 6AH, near Warren Street tube), at Shire Hall in Stafford (ST16 2LD), and at Holmedale Health in Exeter (EX1 1SE). Every patient must attend at least one in-person appointment to begin therapy; afterwards, follow-ups can be remote by video or phone.

How do I prepare for my consultation?

Please gather any previous medical records, have a list of questions ready, and ensure you have a quiet, private space if it is a video appointment.

What happens at my consultation?

Your clinician will discuss your medical history, transition goals, and the potential risks and benefits of hormone therapy. Together, you will begin forming a tailored treatment plan.

What happens after my consultation?

Following your consultation, if a treatment plan is agreed upon, we will arrange for necessary blood tests and any required physical examinations before prescribing.

What happens if my GP refuses to share care?

Many GPs now decline shared care, but you are never left without care. If your GP is unwilling or unable to enter a Shared Care Agreement, we continue to provide it privately, including prescriptions and blood test monitoring.

What if I discontinue my treatment?

If you choose to stop treatment, we will guide you safely through the discontinuation process to minimise any adverse effects and support your ongoing health.

What if I cancel the plan or miss a payment?

Please contact our support team as soon as possible if you are facing financial difficulties. We aim to be flexible and will discuss options with you to prevent disruption to your care.
