# Voice training.

Oestrogen doesn't reverse vocal changes from a testosterone-driven puberty. Voice work is a separate craft, and here are the trans-friendly providers we recommend.

Voice and HRT

## Different hormones, different effects.

**Testosterone** physically enlarges the larynx and lengthens the vocal cords, deepening your voice. These changes are typically permanent even if testosterone is later discontinued. Most trans masculine patients see voice changes start within months, sometimes with a "throat crackling" phase.

**Oestrogen** doesn't reverse these changes. Voice feminisation requires separate work: vocal coaching, voice training, or (in some cases) surgical voice feminisation. Trans feminine patients often work with a voice coach or speech-and-language therapist to develop a more feminine speaking voice.
