Mary Burke
Lead Clinician
"Driven by a deep passion for improving transgender healthcare, Mary is committed to providing the highest standard of care."
Mary qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1986, followed by a Midwife in 1988, and a Family Planning Nurse in 1993. In 1992, she completed acupuncture studies at The British College of Acupuncture. With over thirty years of experience in both NHS and private practice, she gained extensive expertise in general practice and women’s health.
In 2008, Mary earned her Independent Prescribing qualification, enabling autonomous practice. In 2014, she earned accreditation in bio-identical hormone therapy. Having worked with transgender individuals for a decade, she recognised significant overlap between hormone treatments for andropause, menopause, and transgender therapy, leading to specialisation in transgender patient care.
Mary collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including gender specialist psychiatrists, psychologists, endocrinologists, and surgeons to offer comprehensive care. She is an active member of WPATH, EPATH, BAGIS, and the British Menopause Society, regularly attending conferences to stay updated on evolving policies and practices.
