Where you can have them
Three places to get your injection.
Most common
At your GP practice
Once shared care is in place, your GP nurse can administer your depot injections (Nebido, Prostap, Sustanon, etc.) on the NHS, usually with a routine appointment every 8-12 weeks.

In-clinic
At a GHC clinic
Book a nurse-led injection appointment at our London clinic (injection appointments are London only). We can administer any of the depots you're prescribed, including those some GP practices decline to give.
Use the booking form to schedule. Typical wait is 1-2 weeks.
At home
Self-administration
Sustanon and certain testosterone blockers (GnRH analogues) can be self-administered at home after a one-off training session and signed consent.
Nebido is clinician-administered only.
GHC Stafford no longer offers injections. Patients near Stafford typically book at GHC London, arrange administration with their GP, or contact Gender Healthcare Stafford (admin@genderhealthcare.co.uk) for clinician-administered injections locally. Trans-friendly NHS walk-ins in London include 56 Dean Street (Wednesdays 4:30-7:00 pm, Soho) and CliniQ (Tuesdays 4:00-7:00 pm, King's College Hospital).

Before your injection
A few things to know beforehand.
- Eat and drink normally. No fasting required for injections themselves, only blood tests, if you're combining the visit.
- Bring your medication if you've collected it from a pharmacy. If we're dispensing in-house, we'll have it ready.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing. Most depots are given in the upper outer thigh or buttock; clothing that gives easy access saves time.
- Allow 20-30 minutes. Nebido and Prostap in particular need slow administration plus a brief observation period afterwards.

Missed a date, or travelling?
Missed your injection date
A 1-2 week delay beyond your usual date is usually clinically fine. If you can't secure a slot in time, contact us. We can bridge with a temporary prescription or arrange an earlier appointment.
Travelling
Request a travel letter (£59) 3-4 weeks in advance. Longer supplies, five to twelve months, may be issued in appropriate cases.
Self-injection
For Sustanon and GnRH analogues.
Many of our patients self-inject at home. We train you in clinic, supply consumables with each prescription, and remain on hand if you have any concerns.
Step 1
Training
One in-clinic session with our nursing team, typically the same appointment as your first injection. Includes intramuscular and subcutaneous technique.
Step 2
Consent form
A signed self-administration consent form goes on your record. We re-confirm consent annually as part of your clinical review.
Step 3
Supplies
Syringes, drawing-up and injection needles, alcohol wipes, and a sharps bin are dispensed with each prescription. Collection at our pharmacy or via your GP if on shared care.
