Can I self-inject Sustanon?

Yes, with training and a signed consent form. We can teach you in clinic, or your GP nurse can. Draw up with the blue needle, then inject into the thigh with the green (wider-bore) needle.

Should I switch to Nebido?

Many patients find Nebido smoother because of its very long half-life. The trade-off is that it can't be adjusted as quickly. We'll discuss the choice at your review.

What if I miss a dose?

A 1-2 week delay is usually fine. Longer than that, contact us and we may bridge with a temporary Testogel or arrange an earlier injection slot.

Sustanon Injections therapy, a clear guide.

Sustanon is one of two main long-acting testosterone injections we prescribe. Compared with Nebido, doses are smaller and more frequent, and serum levels rise and fall more visibly between shots. Some patients prefer this rhythm, others prefer the steadier curve of Nebido.

OVERVIEW

What sustanon injections does, in plain English.

Sustanon contains four testosterone esters in a single oil-based injection, designed to release testosterone over 2-3 weeks. It's well-established, widely available, and one of the few injectable hormones at GHC that you can be trained to self-administer at home.

Drawing blood for monitoring is done immediately before your next scheduled dose. This gives the trough level we use for adjustments.

SIDE EFFECTS & RISKS

What to watch for, and what to tell us.

Most patients tolerate Sustanon well. The peaks and troughs between doses are the most common driver of mood, energy, and libido fluctuations.

Common

Peaks and troughs +

Mood, energy, libido, and acne can fluctuate between doses, more pronounced than with Nebido. Switching to weekly subcutaneous testosterone or Nebido often resolves it.

Acne and skin changes +

Especially in the first year. Usually settles.

Injection-site soreness +

For 24-48 hours after injection. Rotate sites.

Voice deepening +

Permanent. Begins around 3 months.

Less common / serious

Polycythaemia +

Raised haematocrit (thicker blood). Monitored every 6 months. If it rises above safe limits we adjust the dose or switch route.

Sleep apnoea +

Testosterone can worsen pre-existing sleep apnoea. Tell us if you snore heavily.

Monitoring schedule

We catch things early. Here's the routine you can expect.

Most of the testing is front-loaded while we fine-tune your dose. Once your levels are stable, it's usually just once a year.
